Is my 3 yr old son normal?

my 3 yr old son still does not have full language skills. He can talk in brief sentences, he can tell me what he wants or needs but he doesnt have abstract language yet i guess. Such as If I ask him how he is feeling, he cant tell me that, if i ask him how was his day he wont be able to answer. If i asked him what he did all day or where he went he wouldnt be able to answer that. He also just hits ppl whenever they do or say something he doesnt like. No matter how many times i tell him no or yell at him and sometimes even hit him back for him to understand it hurts but he keeps doing it. He has some other wierd habits in that if ppl around him such as me and his dad or anyone else start laughing amongst ourselves or just from conversation he gets upset and hits us. He also is a terrible sleeper and still gets up two or three times per night randomly. He will just cry or ask for his pacifier (yes he still uses a pacifier to help him fall asleep). He is pretty smart otherwise, he understands if i tell him that if he does this then i will give him his favorite things (such as chips or whatever). He is also more advanced than other kids in terms of his letters, numbers, can even read some words and can play games online since he was much younger. He is very affectionate and when in a good mood just wants to be hugged and kissed and will do the same to others. But i guess its the other wierd habits and lack of complicated language that sometimes makes me wonder if hes a little wierd. what do you think?
