What type of graphics card would suit my computer?

I got Dell PC windows home edition and its in a great condition, runs fast and has a fast processor but i need a graphic card, my computer was made somewhere in the 2003-2004 time and i heard that Nvidia is a good type of graphic card. I heard there is PCI express AGP and PCI, is there anything else about getting a graphic card for my pc i should know?
