What is a good apartment pet?

I have always had cats, and I really miss having a pet that willing cuddles with me. I curently have a ball python, hamster, two beta fish, and sea monkey... none of those cuddle. My apartments have strict rules on pets such as no dogs, cats, or rabbits. Any suggestions on small, inexpensive, pets that will snuggle with me while I watch tv or whatever?
